Singaporeans take their queuing seriously, and it’s a cultural norm that’s deeply ingrained in the fabric of society. However, not everyone seems to understand the gist of queue etiquette, as demonstrated in a recent incident at a Bedok carpark.
In a video uploaded to SG Road Vigilante on Sunday (Nov 5), a black MPV cut in front of a driver who was patiently waiting for a parking spot, resulting in an ensuing confrontation between the two drivers.
The Queue-Jumper’s Bold Move
In the video, the black MPV could be seen cutting in front of a driver who was next in line, and then attempting to reverse into a parking lot that had just been vacated by another car.
As the MPV driver inserts into the vacant lot, the driver who had been patiently waiting starts honking his horn in protest. The two drivers then roll down their windows and engage in a rather heated exchange.
The camcar driver shouted from his car, telling the man “you come after me right! You are behind me and you just overtake!”
He then sarcastically tells the MPV driver “orh there’s no such thing as queue right!” The MPV driver then reponds that he didn’t know there was a queue.
The Parking Standoff
The MPV then tried to reverse into the parking lot, with the camcar driver then driving forward to make it difficult for the MPV to finish parking, with both sides refusing to relent.
The MPV driver then points out that there were more parking lots behind the driver.
Confrontation and Verbal Sparring
After both vehicles are parked, the MPV driver then alights and confronts the driver, engaging in a verbal battle.
The man questions, “How I know you behind me?” He defends his actions, while the driver asserts that he was there earlier, waiting patiently in the queue for a parking spot. To which the man asks “what kind of f-ing logic i this”.
The argument then continues as the two men walk off awkwardly int he same direction.
