Two people sustained minor injuries after a car crashed into a temporary bus stop in Toa Payoh on Friday night, leaving both the vehicle and bus stop badly damaged.
The accident occurred at about 8.55pm along Toa Payoh Rise towards Olive Road. According to the police, the vehicle is believed to have self-skidded before mounting the kerb and crashing into the bus stop.
Photos circulating online showed a white Audi fully encroaching into the temporary bus stop area, with debris scattered across the ground. The impact also damaged an electrical box, which appeared to have been knocked out of position.
Audi Suffers Extensive Front-End Damage
Images from the scene revealed severe damage to the front of the Audi. The bonnet was crumpled and folded upwards, while parts of the vehicle, including its licence plate, were found among the debris.
A safety bollard near the bus stop was also reportedly knocked down during the collision.
The bus stop involved was a temporary structure installed to serve commuters while nearby construction works were being carried out.
Driver Assisting Police With Investigations
The Singapore Police Force said the driver, a 56-year-old man, and his 51-year-old female passenger both suffered minor injuries.
Despite their injuries, both individuals declined to be taken to hospital.
Police investigations into the incident are ongoing, with the driver currently assisting authorities.
Fortunately, no injuries to members of the public waiting at the bus stop were reported.
The incident comes amid a series of recent road accidents involving vehicles crashing into public infrastructure across Singapore, raising renewed concerns over road safety and driver vigilance, especially in areas with pedestrian activity and temporary traffic arrangements.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the self-skid, and further details are expected once investigations are completed.
