The 58-year-old attacker faces one count of causing intentional hurt to others and he pleaded guilty in court.

It was revealed in the court that the defendant had been dating a 39-year-old beer girl of Malaysian nationality for two years. The two broke up just one month before the incident, but they still maintained their friendship.

The defendant went to the Sengkang coffee shop where his ex-girlfriend worked at around 9:40 p.m. on September 21, 2019, after drinking six bottles of beer, and ordered another six bottles of beer from her. The ex-girlfriend was about to leave work at the time, and she sat at the defendant’s table to drink and chat with him without changing her uniform.

Later on, the ex-girlfriend wanted to change her uniform and got up and left at 10:45 in the evening.

Upon seeing this, the defendant grabbed her hand to prevent her from leaving, then picked up a bottle and smashed it on her head, causing the glass to shatter all over the floor.

A passerby called the police after seeing this, and the police arrived and sent his ex-girlfriend to the hospital for treatment.

The defendant left the coffee shop before the police arrived. The police officers found the defendant at a nearby bus stop shortly afterwards and arrested him.
