Yeo Kian Heng, 57, pleaded guilty earlier today (11 March) to one count each of voluntarily causing grievous hurt using criminal force, and riding a banned PMD on a footpath.
Yeo reportedly drank 2 bottles of beer and became drunk, then he proceeded to pick up his 10-year-old son from his sister’s home.
The boy was seated in the front of his PMD, when he rode past a 55-year-old man with his 50-year-old wife.
He then told the middle-aged couple that the road didn’t belong to his father, b efore getting off his PMD and approaching the couple angrily.
His son tried to hold him back but Yeo still managed to punch the man on the jaw, resulting in him falling down, as Yeo continued to rain blows on the man; stepping on his ribs and groin area.
The woman then called the police as the boy begged her not to.
Yeo then got on his PMD and fled the scene, leaving his 10-year-old son behind.
The boy then continued pleading with the woman not to call the police, and as the woman and the boy were speaking to each other, Yeo returned and swung his fists at the woman, kicking in her direction; although she managed to dodge the blows.
Yeo then rode away on his PMD and fled the scene again, but he was later caught.
The male victim was hospitalized, suffering rib fractures, a bleeding nose and minor head injuries, and he was given 7 days mc.
District Judge Janet Wang said that Yeo was the hostile party and the attack on the male victim was sustained.
Yeo was sentenced to 13 months, 2 weeks and 1 day of jail; as well as a fine of $500.
