Drunken Assault at Cuppage Plaza: Couple Attacked by Two Men

In the early hours of March 25, a couple was reportedly assaulted by two intoxicated men at Cuppage Plaza, just as they were preparing to head home. The incident involved a karaoke bar owner, Ng Siew Ching, and her husband, who found themselves in a violent confrontation with the two men, believed to be employees of a nearby establishment.According to Ng, the couple was about to enter a lift when they inadvertently crossed paths with the two men and two women. As they exited the lift, one of the men approached Ng’s husband and attempted to whisper something in his ear. Ng recounted that her husband, sensing the men’s inebriation, asked them to leave them alone. This request seemingly provoked the men, who began to taunt and push Ng’s husband.In an effort to defuse the situation, Ng intervened, but she was met with aggression as one of the men allegedly punched her. The altercation escalated quickly, with Ng claiming that the men pulled her hair and slammed her face into the ground. The violence only ceased when Ng’s employees and the assailants’ supervisors intervened. Ng described a harrowing moment where one of her employees had to forcibly release her hair from the grip of one of the attackers.Following the incident, Ng made the decision to contact the police. Authorities confirmed that they received a report of the altercation at approximately 3 AM. Two individuals, a 33-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman, were taken to the hospital but were conscious upon arrival. A 41-year-old man was arrested for public nuisance and is currently assisting police with their investigation into the incident, which includes charges of voluntarily causing hurt.Ng reported that she spent a night in the hospital due to the injuries sustained during the attack, which included bruises on her face and legs, as well as a significant loss of hair. Her husband also suffered bruises and experienced breathlessness but did not require hospitalization.The police are continuing their investigation into the matter, seeking to gather more information regarding the events that transpired that night. The incident has raised concerns about public safety and the behavior of intoxicated individuals in nightlife areas.As the investigation unfolds, the community remains vigilant, hoping for swift justice for the couple involved in this alarming incident.
