A bizarre incident occurred at a hotel in Krabi yesterday involving a Dutch tourist who, in a state of apparent hallucination, ran through the premises completely naked before taking a tumble down the stairs and sustaining injuries. The individual, identified as 51-year-old Ronald Hillmar, exhibited erratic behavior that prompted hotel staff to call for police and medical assistance.
The unsettling events began around 3:30 PM on March 24, when hotel employees on Chao Fah Road reported that a foreign male guest was behaving unusually. Witnesses described Hillmar running through the hotel, yelling incoherently, and refusing to respond to staff attempts to calm him down. Concerned for his safety and the safety of others, the hotel staff contacted local authorities.
Upon arrival, Krabi City Police discovered that Hillmar had barricaded himself in his hotel room. Officers found him still naked and in a highly agitated state. Although they attempted to persuade him to dress, Hillmar’s erratic behavior persisted, indicating that he may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
It became evident that Hillmar had fallen down the stairs prior to the police’s arrival, as he was covered in bruises. Despite needing medical attention, he adamantly refused to go to the hospital and continued to shout at both hotel staff and officers. Given the circumstances, police and rescue workers had no choice but to secure him to a stretcher and transport him to Krabi Hospital for treatment.
Hotel staff reported that Hillmar had checked into the hotel earlier that day and was scheduled to check out later in the evening. However, when staff attempted to check on him at the time of checkout, his behavior escalated dangerously, leading to his frantic run through the hotel and subsequent fall.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident to determine whether Hillmar’s hallucinations were a result of substance use or other factors. This incident serves as a reminder of the potential risks associated with excessive alcohol consumption and the unpredictable behavior it can provoke, particularly in unfamiliar environments.
