ELD REMOVE WEAR GLOVES REQUIREMENT AFTER LONG QUEUE @ POLLING STATION

According to the Election Department Singapore (ELD), the requirement of wearing disposable gloves has been removed after observing long queues at the polling stations since the polls were opened this morning (10 Jul).

The ELD apologised for the longer than usual queues and explained that it is due to more voters turning up earlier than their assigned voting time bands. With the additional safety requirement, this has led to longer queues at the polling stations.

In order to resolve the issue, the ELD has announced that wearing gloves is no longer needed since voters are already required to sanitised their hands before voting. However, gloves will still be made available for voters who decide to wear them.

ELD then urge the voters to keep to their assigned time band and observe safe distancing to prevent overcrowding at the polling stations.
