Felt sad seeing this elderly couple sleeping outside a corridor at a rental block off Lavender.
We didn’t wake them up as they were very sound asleep on a lazy humid afternoon yesterday. Let’s hope that they are not homeless but just sleep outdoor for a short while because of the heat in the house.
We left some masks behind and move on to another level to continue our distribution.
The living conditions for our seniors at rental flats remained basic at best and more can be done to improve their livelihood.
Many do not have adequate CPF savings for retirement as their salary then was quite low but our cost of living has caught up by leaps and bounds.
Perhaps a basic pension package of $1000/month or $30/day can be initiated for them so that they can retire more comfortably. Anything less will be a struggle.
