An elderly couple and their son were electrocuted to death at their Lakeside flat. The elderly grandfather who is in his seventies accidentally fell down while taking a shower in the toilet. When his old wife helped him up, he suspected that the sprinkler of the water heater had leaked, and the couple was electrocuted. When the son came to visit his parents, he was also electrocuted as he approached to save his parents. His 16-year-old daughter witnessed the entire horrific process.
This family tragedy occurred at about 4:15 pm yesterday (December 10), and the location was a three-room unit on the third floor of Block 120 Ho Ching Road.
The three dead were 80-year-old Omar and 66-year-old wife Asma, and their 45-year-old son Muhamad.
A relative and friend of the trio, said in an interview in the mortuary this morning that Omar was could not move well after a stroke. His wife was helping him take a bath at the time of the incident.
“It is known that Omar fell down somehow afterwards. When his wife tried to lift him up, she accidentally pulled off the shower head of the water heater in the toilet. As a result, both of them were electrocuted and killed.”
It is reported that the 16-year-old granddaughter came to visit the grandfather and grandma and found that the door was deeply locked and no one answered the door, so she called her father.
The eldest son Muhamad rushed over immediately, arrived at about 4pm in the afternoon, opened the door, and entered the house with his daughter. According to Zaini, Mohamo found his parents lying motionless in the toilet and hurriedly stepped forward to help them up.
The 16-year-old girl saw this scene and was so frightened that she called her mother for help, who immediately called the police.
When questioned, the police said that they had received a notification of an unnatural death at the time of the incident.
An 80-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman were found lying in the aforementioned unit and pronounced dead on the spot.
The two were husband and wife. The son was rushed to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital and was pronounced dead.
The police ruled out the possibility of homicide, and the investigations are ongoing.
