An employee of a Cheers convenience store who posted a video of himself arguing with police officers on New Year, has since been fired by the company.
Cheers’ statement
[UPDATE] Following the incident that occurred on 1 Jan at our franchise store located at Lau Pa Sat, having spoken with the staff and assessed the incident, we have instructed our franchisee to dismiss the staff involved.
We require all staff to offer full co-operation and compliance with the authorities, and we do not tolerate acts from staff that undermine the authority of the Police.
We appreciate the feedback and concern that we’ve received from the public on the matter, and we sincerely apologise for the distress caused.

We have been notified of an incident that occurred yesterday involving a Cheers store staff and Singapore Police Force officers.
We would like to assure the public that our staff will offer our full co-operation and compliance when rendering assistance to the authorities. Following the incident, the staff involved has also been counselled and put on administrative leave pending further investigation.
We thank the public for your concern and apologise for any distress that this incident has caused.
