EMPLOYER: “NOT THAT I WANT HIRE FT, THE NEW GEN SPOILT BRATS REALLY DAMN USELESS”

As an employer, it can be incredibly frustrating when local job seekers lack the necessary skills and experience to fill a vacancy. I recently experienced this firsthand, when I was looking for a new employee to join the team at our business. I had posted the job advertisement and received a good number of applications, but I was disappointed to find that none of the applicants had the right qualifications or experience for the role.

It was then that I started to hear comments from other employers in the same situation.

They were complaining about the same issue – that local job seekers were not up to the mark and that they were “spoilt brats” who lacked the necessary skills and experience to do the job.

At first, I was sceptical. After all, I had been hiring local employees for years and had never encountered this problem. However, after giving it more thought, I couldn’t help but agree with my peers.

The local job seekers did not have the right qualifications or experience to do the job, and many of them seemed to be more focused on their own interests than the role itself.

I was not alone in this sentiment. In fact, I had a friend in a similar position and they had also encountered the same issue. They had been looking for a new employee but had been unable to find anyone with the right skills and experience, and they were beginning to despair.

It was then that I realised I had to do something to address this growing problem. I decided to look further afield and consider hiring a foreign worker. After all, I knew that these workers often had a better knowledge of the role and had the necessary qualifications and experience.

The decision to hire a foreign worker was not easy. I was worried that my existing staff would resent me for doing so, and I was also concerned about the potential cost implications. However, I eventually decided to take the plunge, and I am glad I did.

The foreign worker I hired has been an absolute pleasure to work with.

  • They are hard-working
  • reliable
  • highly skilled
  • They also have a great attitude

and are a pleasure to be around. Most importantly, they have been able to contribute to the success of our business in ways that our local job seekers simply could not.

You may be pleasantly surprised at the difference it can make.
