A man posted a question online asking why his salary is lower compared to someone with lesser experience than him:
“I’m a mechanical engineering graduate from the 2020 batch and have been working in the silicon manufacturing company since then.
My average salary has been mid-3s with little increment; may be close to 4 now. I’ve recently noticed a peer of mine who graduated with an engineering degree and is working as a business analyst (I know, completely different from a ME degree) with pay of mid 4s and heard he’s joining a government stat board as a BA earning close to 6k.
Are we supposed to be earning close to 6k with at least 2 years of experience? Or is this out of the norm? Are engineers really paid that low?”

- Hello i am a process engineer in manufacturing with 6 years experience, I cant even smell anything above 4K. Even a 4.5K asking salary is hard.Its across the board for the industry especially silicon (save for micron and a rare few), its better u change industry if u want a better starting pay.

- IT is the new in the industry. If you work anything related to IT (including analysis type jobs), you can expect your pay to be like that. Engineering is out.
