A photo emerged online showing a couple of errant cyclists flouting road safety rules with their bicycle riding on the road.

The two errant cyclists were seen in the photo waiting at what appears to be a traffic stop at a traffic junction.

They were both seen in the middle of the road, with the female cyclist seen riding without a helmet on as well.

Active Mobility Act

It is mandatory for all cyclists to wear helmets when riding on roads.

Those caught riding bicycles and power-assisted bicycles on roads without wearing a helmet can be fined up to $1,000 and/or jailed up to three months upon conviction for the first offence.

Under the Active Mobility Act, cyclists are required to ride their bicycles as close as practicable to the far left edge of the roads.

They must also allow other traffic to be able to overtake them safely on the roads.
