Temasek Foundation announced that they will be giving one oximeter to every home in Singapore for the residents to monitor their blood oxygen levels.

The device essentially helps to detect early signs of heal deterioration by checking the oxygen level in the blood.

This is in response to the emergence of new and more infectious Covid-19 variants.

Temasek Foundation said:

“The Covid-19 virus can cause blood oxygen levels to drop to dangerously low levels, even when you have no other symptoms.”

“‘Silent pneumonia’ is one of the most serious consequences of Covid-19, where seriously ill people can feel generally well, despite damaged lungs.”

The devices will be available for collection from 5 July onwards at FairPrice, Sheng Siong, Giant, Cold Storage, Watsons, Unity and Guardian outlets.

Collection can only be made upon presenting a leaflet, which will be sent to residents’ homes through the mail between 28 June to 3 July.
