Ex-gf forced me buy car under my name, now post-breakup she drive off, stop paying installment. Call police?

Last year, my ex-gf kept nagging at me non-stop saying her job need car, but her credit score rabak (bad credit history, bank reject loan). She emotionally guilt-tripped me every single day, saying “If you love me, you will help me,” “We getting married soon right?” etc.

In the end, like a total idiot, I succumbed. Bought a secondhand Honda Civic. Everything—the vehicle ownership, COE, and bank car loan—is 100% under my name.

The verbal agreement was simple: She drives it, but every month she will PayNow me $1,100 to cover the loan installment and insurance. For the first few months, she actually paid.

Then The Plot Twist…

2 months ago, we had a major fallout because I caught her chatting with another guy. She hit me with the classic “It’s not you, it’s me” and blocked me everywhere.

Here is the nightmare part:

  • She took the car key and drove the car away.
  • She ghosted me completely on WhatsApp/Telegram.
  • She STOPPED transferring me the $1,100 monthly installment.

Now the bank is spamming me calls, chasing payment, and warning me about bad credit score/repossession. I went down to her block, but the car is parked inside a multi-storey car park that requires keycard access, or she park elsewhere I don’t even know.

Questions

  1. Can I make a police report for theft? Since the car is legally 100% registered under my name with LTA, technically she taking it without my permission is vehicle theft right? Or SPF will just say “This one private civil dispute, go settle yourself / hire lawyer”?
  2. Can I report the car missing / tow it back? If I go LTA or call tow truck, do I need to prove where the car is first? Can tow truck tow from public/HDB carpark if I show proof of ownership?
  3. What about legal action? Small Claims Tribunal (SCT) got cap, and since we don’t have a written legal contract (only WhatsApp chat logs of her promising to pay), do I stand a chance?

I know, I know… I am the ultimate simp and sai-kang warrior for doing this. Roast me all you want in the comments, I deserve it. But right now I really need practical steps on how to recover the car and stop paying for her joyride.

Appreciate any solid advice. Thanks bro/sis.
