According to a media release, an ex-navy regular was sentenced to 7 weeks of jail after being caught red-handed for taking upskirt under an HDB block. This is the second time that he was convicted for the offence.
The incident happened in Oct 2019, the accuse spotted the victim and decided to follow her. He then attempts to take an upskirt by placing his mobile phone in between the victim’s legs.
The victim felt something fishy, the victim turned her head and caught the accuse in action. The accuse tried to run away but was caught by the victim. He then handed his phone to the victim upon her request.
When going through his phone, the victim was unable to find any evidence of the accuse taking her upskirt. She then decides to take a photo of the accused and reported him to the police.
According to the prosecutor, the accuse was previously sentenced to 18 weeks of jail for taking upskirt of 46 women in Nov 2017. In a short span of 8 months, the accuse has committed the same offence again. Although he did not manage to take the upskirt this time, he was still sentenced to 7 weeks of jail.
