30-year-old Nanyang Technological University (NTU) student Tnee Chin Kiat was charged in court on 11 May for allegedly molesting an 18-year-old girl on two separate occasions at a campus hostel back in 2018 as well as allegedly procuring an indecent act from a then-14-year-old girl to pose for him in a lingerie photoshoot, according to The Straits Times.
He also allegedly targeted an 11-year-old girl on 12 September 2020, when he was at the lift lobby of a block of flats in Tampines.
He had allegedly tried to ask the 11-year-old girl to also model and pose for him in a lingerie photoshoot.
Tnee, who has since graduated from the school, faced multiple charges in court, including molestation and procuring the commission of an indecent act by a child.
It was not stated in court documents how the alleged victims were linked to NTU or how Tnee’s alleged offences had come to light.
NTU said in a statement that Tnee graduated from their school with a bachelor’s degree in 2016, followed by a master’s in 2020, but they stopped short of mentioning his field of study.
They also added that there are no records of any criminal misconduct or charges against him during his time as a student at the school.
However, they added that they have a zero tolerance stance on criminal misconduct and any of their students who commit such offences will face disciplinary action(s).
His case has since been adjourned to 9 June.
If convicted of molestation, he faces a jail term of up to 2 years, a fine or caning, or any combination of the punishments.
If convicted of procuring the commission of an indecent act from a child, he faces a jail term of up to 5 years and a fine of up to $10,000.
