EX-POH HENG JEWELRY MANAGER STOLE $110,000 WORTH OF JEWELRY TO PAY HIS DEBT

An Ex-Poh Heng Jewelry Manager was arrested after he has stolen $110,000 worth of jewellery from his company in order to repay his gambling debt.

The man pleaded guilty to one count of criminal breach of trust yesterday (25 Aug 2020), the man was caught stealing last year during an audit check conducted by the company. During the audit check, the region manager found jewellery missing from the safe.

The manager then questioned the man in regards to the matter as he is the only person who has access to the safe.

The man later admitted that he has been stealing from the safe since Mar 2017. In total 26 different jewellery were stolen and was pawned to pawnshops in return for cash. The man will then use the cash to repay the money he owes to the bank and to loansharks.

The case has been adjourned to 25 Sep 2020 for sentencing.
