EX-SMRT EMPLOYEE CHARGED FOR CORRUPTION, RECEIVED $54,000 IN BRIBES

43-year-old Soh Choon Heng is facing charges for taking over SGD$54,000 in bribes from suppliers of SMRT.

He is also facing charges because he forged the signature of a manager on two letters. By agreeing to buy parts from the supplier’s Soh benefited by receiving a “commission”.

He also helped the suppliers to leak competitor quoted prices in order for his “partnered” vendor to win the deal.

The suppliers who bribed him are facing corruption charges as well.

In Singapore, corruption is a very serious crime and be punished with a maximum of 5 years jail and/or fined of up to SGD$100,000.
