We typically see brown squirrels or black ones with stripes in Singapore and it’s not every day we see a full albino squirrel.
These animals are active both in the day and night and feed mainly on plants and a mix of animals. They often have nests that are built with twigs and often found in forests, mangroves and even parks.
Here is what the netizen said:
Was glazing at the sky to look for nice and interesting cloud formation but spotted a White Squirrel instead..So compelled to share with u guys of this very unique spotting..Admin please delete if not appropriate..”

Netizens response:
- Wow, indeed a rare species. Is my first time seeing a albino white squirrel. Thank you for sharing
- Beautiful ..unaware that Singapore has wild white squirrel
- its a rare albino white squirrel
- Unfortunately, albino animals don’t live very long because they stood out so an easier target for predators. And due to the lack of black pigment, their eyes are sensitive to light and their eyesight will deteriorate as they age, that will make them more vulnerable.
Do and don’ts when you encounter wild animals
Although Singapore is small we do have a wild variety of animals, when you come across any wild animals it is best to keep a distance and let the animal be.
Any sudden movements will startle the animal.
Let the animals be.
