Photos emerged on social media showing the prices of the same carton of 24 cans of Tiger Beer being sold at a higher price at NTUC FairPrice than at other supermarkets such as Cold Storage and Sheng Siong.
The same product was priced at $36,80 at NTUC, $33.50 at Cold Storage and $32.50 at Sheng Siong; which led to netizens wondering why the chain, which was supposedly formed to fight the rise in daily prices by providing cheaper and affordable products to Singaporeans.
Other netizens described that drinking alcohol is not exactly a virtuous activity and that maybe “ah gong want to discourage people from drinking”.
