A netizen going by the alias of PeiYi Neo recently posted on Facebook’s Complaint Singapore Page complaining that she went to have Mala at a stall in chinatown and discovered a cigarette butt in her food.
The Mala stall in question as seen in the post is the Famous 日日红 Mala Hot Pot outlet at People’s Park Food Centre.
The netizen also added that when she questioned the staff about the cigarette butt, they told her that it was ‘part of’ the dried red chilli.
Here is her post
‘OMF—G! Went to eat my favourite Mala in Chinatown. And know what?
When i’m almost done with my food, i realised that there’s a cig butt in it!
When i approach the staff as shown in the pic, she told me that it’s part of the dried red chilli?! Wt—f?
Disguisted! Will never come again.’

Here are what netizens have to say
- There is a Chinese brand name on the ciggie butt. So obvious it is a ciggie butt and not chilli.
- Ask her to taste it or Call the NEA..see whether she cares or not..now all these stall owners got evil heart and don’t care..should punish them..it is hygiene purpose..boycott
- Poor you. I’m feeling you. Had an experience once and the staff was horrid and find excuses too.
