Local reports revealed the two women first met in 2018 when Xiao Yun, who worked as a freelance cleaner providing home cleaning services, was hired by Xiao Mei. The two became friendly, exchanging contact details and occasionally meeting up for meals and chats. During one such meeting in 2019 at a fast-food restaurant, Xiao Mei accidentally revealed she had lied about her relationship with a mutual acquaintance, claiming they were siblings when they were not.

Violent Outburst Erupts at Victim’s Home

The revelation enraged Xiao Yun, who felt betrayed by the deception. After the meal, the pair returned to Xiao Mei’s rented flat. Once inside, Xiao Yun snapped, resorting to violence. She physically overpowered Xiao Mei, tied her up, and forcefully removed her clothes. In a harrowing escalation, Xiao Yun then sexually assaulted her, leaving the victim traumatised both physically and emotionally.

Authorities were alerted when the incident came to light, and Xiao Yun was swiftly arrested. During police investigations, Xiao Yun confessed to her actions without hesitation, expressing remorse but failing to justify her violent outburst.

Court Delivers Sentence with Harsh Words for Offender

During sentencing, the Taipei District Court judge noted that Xiao Mei had suffered significant psychological and physical harm from the attack. The court highlighted the severity of the assault and the lack of reconciliation between the two women, observing that the victim continued to suffer from the aftermath of the ordeal.

Nonetheless, the judge considered Xiao Yun’s cooperation during the investigation and her admission of guilt, which showed some remorse. Consequently, the court sentenced Xiao Yun to three years and six months’ imprisonment for the crime of forcible sexual assault. The case remains open for appeal, leaving the possibility of further legal proceedings.
