A 28-year-old Korean woman, who was vlogging alone in India, was stalked by a man who flashed and exposed his private parts to her, as she ran away screaming for help.
The woman then shared the incident which was captured on her vlog, and it then went viral on social media, leading to the arrest of the 25-year-old man in the city of Jodhpur, India.
The incident reportedly took place on 17 April; and the 25-year-old man, identified in media reports as Deepak, had earlier spotted the woman by herself and stalked her for quite some time.
He was seen in the video lurking behind the woman and following her.
She was filming her vlog alone when the man then went to stand in front of her along a set of stairs and blocked her way, but she continued walking past him.
As she was passing him, Deepak then pulled down his pants and flashed his private parts to her, before following her while grinning at her.
The woman then ran away from him and shouted for help.
The woman posted a video of the incident online and it then went viral, catching the attention of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW), who then wrote a letter to the Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to take “the strongest action” against the man.
The police then saw the video and sprung into action, arrested Deepak.
The Times of India reported that according to a police officer, the suspect is a resident who lives nearby, described as being mentally sick and roams around the area.
The officer said that the man had been wandering around the vicinity when he spotted the Korean woman vlogging by herself, and started following her around.
He said that they have arrested the man for disturbing the peace, and added that they received no complaint from the tourist about the incident.
Just came across this video of a Korean vlogger who posted a video of her being sexually harassed in Jodhpur. This is extremely disgusting and shameful. People like these are spoiling the image of our great country. Am writing to Shri @AshokGehlot51 to take strongest action! pic.twitter.com/8vfjblcizx
