Rodrigo Duterte, the Philippines’ President, said on 11 October that he will be leading efforts to vaccinate those who refuse to be vaccinated by jabbing them in their sleep, according to the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The president said that he wanted the vaccination driver to hit the target of 50% o the population being vaccinated by the end of 2021.
Philippines’ current vaccination rate stands at 22%.
According to CNN Philippines, the president said in a speech: “
“The problem is those who don’t want to get vaccinated. Look for them in your village, let’s go there while they’re asleep and inject them while asleep so we can get it done. I’ll do it, I’ll lead the journey.”
