A video emerged online showing the subpar state of cleanliness at an unnamed prata stall located at Bukit Panjang.
Grimy, dried-up stains could be seen on the underside and side of the counters where the stocks of food were kept.
Moist-looking charred substances could be seen on the stove, as well as little crumbs of food under it.
The cameraman then rummaged under the counter and lifted up some of the food stocks, and flies were seen flying around on the packets.
Food hygiene
Under the SFA points demerit system, food outlets are subject to demerit points being given for a series of offenses.
Serious offences such as the sale of unclean food will see the outlet receiving 6 demerit points.
The license of the food shop also faces suspension or cancellation in the event of accumulating 12 or more demerit points within a period of 12 months.
Failure to comply with the food safety standard under the Environmental Public Health Act will see operators face a fine of up to $5,000.
