A fire broke out at VivoCity yesterday evening (7 June), and around 50 people evacuated themselves to safety.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) confirmed that they were alerted to the fire at about 6.45pm in the evening last night.
The fire broke out in basement 2 of the building, and it involved an electrical distribution box inside a mechanical and electrical room.
About four fire extinguishers were utilised by the SCDF in putting out the blaze.
The evacuation of the 50 people from the mall took place before the arrival of firefighters from the SCDF, and there were no injuries reported.
At the time of writing, the cause of the fire is being investigated.
A spokesperson for Mapletree Commercial Property Management, said that the fire didn’t interrupt any mall operations outside the affected area of the fire.
