The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) swiftly responded to a fire incident at Block 803 Keat Hong Close earlier today, after receiving an alert at approximately 10:00 a.m. The fire originated in the kitchen of a unit located on the fourth floor.
Upon their arrival, SCDF firefighters from Clementi Fire Station and Bukit Batok Fire Station were faced with a raging fire in the smoke-filled kitchen. They entered the unit and successfully extinguished the flames using two water jets. However, the rest of the unit suffered damages due to the heat and soot generated by the fire.
Fortunately, two individuals had already evacuated the affected unit before the arrival of SCDF personnel. As a precautionary measure, approximately 40 residents from neighbouring units were evacuated by the police.
An SCDF paramedic promptly assessed one person from the affected unit for smoke inhalation. However, the individual declined further medical treatment and conveyance to a hospital.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, as authorities aim to determine the factors that led to the incident.
