The SCDF posted on their Facebook about a fire at Block 978 Jurong West Street 93.
The incident happened earlier today (8 October) at around 2.25am.
The fire broke out on the fifth floor HDB unit, two persons were seen standing on the ledge outside the affected home.
Firefighters entered the unit via forced entry wearing breathing apparatus and the two persons were brought to safety.
One more person was reportedly evacuated from the scene before the SCDF arrived and was sent to SGH for burn injuries.
A person was found and pronounced dead by a paramedic inside one of the bedrooms that burned.
60 people from the nearby units were evacuated as a precaution by the police.
Two of the firefighters suffered heat exhaustion and were sent to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, they are since discharged.
The SCDF said that the fire originated from an electric source, a PMD.
The fire burned a bedroom and the SCDF put it out using one water jet.
