FIRE @ TUAS PETROLEUM WAREHOUSE, FIREFIGHTER SENT TO HOSPITAL FOR SMOKE INHALATION

A fire broke out at 9 Tuas View Lane, at a warehouse that stores petroleum and flammable materials, according to the Singapore Civil Defence Force on 1 November.

The SCDF said in their Facebook statement that a CERT member was sent to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation.

At about 4:35 p.m. today (1 Nov), SCDF was alerted to a fire at the abovementioned location.

Upon SCDF’s arrival, black smoke was billowing from a warehouse storing petroleum and flammable materials. The area affected by the fire measured about 3 meters by 3 meters.

SCDF firefighters and the Company Emergency Response Team (CERT) of the affected premises deployed 2 water jets to contain the fire, and 3 foam jets to extinguish the fire. The fire was extinguished in about an hour.

A CERT member was conveyed by SCDF to Singapore General Hospital for smoke inhalation.

Damping down operations are ongoing.

The cause of fire is under investigation.
