A total of 5 Singaporeans all in their 60s were arrested on 5 January by the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) for suspected drug trafficking activities.
About 1kg of heroin was found hidden inside packets of coffee.
Drug bust
A 61-year-old man was arrested yesterday morning at Tampines Street 22, with CNB officers seizing 17 packets and one straw which contained about 132g of heroin.
He was brought to another unit at Choa Chu Kang where another 6g of heroin was seized.
That same morning, a follow-up operation was conducted at North Bridge Road and saw 3 men between the ages of 63 and 63 being arrested, along with a 65-year-old woman.
A total of 100 packets and 10 straws which contained about 794g of heroin were seized from the unit along with 5g of Ice.
The drugs were retrieved from a toilet bowl and in coffee packets inside the rubbish chute, with the estimated street value of the seized drugs worth about $66,000.
