A Facebook post went viral after a man uploaded a video of tiles exploding in his home located in Tampines.
The CCTV footage captured the sounds of cracking and suddenly the tiles popping up.

My wife, toddler and mum in law encountered this EXPLOSION first hand in the living room when i’m at work.
The explosion happened just next to my toddler and mum in law. See video for a clearer understanding.

Started off with a loud crackling noise and EXPLODED!! They thought that the building was about to collapse. They quickly grab their stuffs and evacuated the flat. (This is my constant reminder to them when I’m at work). What more could have happened????!!! They waited at the void deck for half hour and went back. SAFETY IS OUR MAIN PRIORITY !! Our neighbours heard the loud explosion and came to check. We came to know that their unit were not affected.

So we called EMSU (23rd January 2022), they said to call HDB instead. Yup, HDB can only be contacted during office hours (8-5am) and they do not have 24 hours hotline.
We are worried and keep thinking that this will happen again tonight??? Again, what more could have happened!!
We will head down to HDB tomorrow to get further information and clarifications on this. Meanwhile, we have notified our insurance advisor to check if the damages can be covered under EPHCI.
Alhamdulillah, my wife, toddler and MIL are okay. No one’s hurt.
