A group of food delivery riders were detained on 11 June after going to a customer’s house and assaulting him.
The incident happened in Sungai Way, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
The customer, a 29-year-old man allegedly ordered food using a name that was phrased in a way that was religiously insensitive.
A 19-year-old delivery rider then took a screenshot of the customer’s name and shared it with a food delivery group, which then angered a group of 5 riders who went to the man’s house.
They then assaulted him before bringing him to Sungai Way police station for further action.
The customer, along with the 5 riders, are being investigated for deliberately wounding a person’s religious feelings and rioting.
The six were remanded for 2 days.
The Malaysian police didn’t reveal what name the customer used that riled the group.
