FOOD RECALL: HAAGEN-DAZS ICE CREAM RECALL DUE TO THE PRESENCE OF PESTICIDE

The European Commission Food Alerts’ Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) has issued a notification on the recall of Häagen-Dazs Belgian Chocolate and Cookies & Cream Ice Cream from France due to the presence of ethylene oxide.

As the implicated products were imported into Singapore, SFA has directed the importer, Frosts Food & Beverage (Pte.) Ltd, to recall the products.

The recall is ongoing.

Pesticide

Ethylene oxide is a pesticide that is not authorised for use in food. Although there is no immediate risk to consumption of food contaminated with low levels of ethylene oxide, long-term exposure may lead to health issues.
