Dylan Chen, a Foodpanda rider, shared how he was at Bukit Panjang when he received an order to collect from Hougang, which is some 20km away, for a meagre fee of only $5.
Chen was riding a bicycle and is usually riding and delivering in the west side of Singapore, but somehow he received an order to collect at Hougang Ave 4 to deliver back to Bukit Panjang Ring Rd.
That would mean he has to travel from Bukit Panjang to Hougang, then back to Bukit Panjang, all for an assignment fee of $5.
Chen then contacted the Foodpanda’s customer service (for dispatch riders we presume), they then told him that he has to “proceed with the order as per SOP (standard operating procedure)”.
Chen explained that it made no sense for him riding a bicycle all the way to Hougang from Bukit Panjang, he said:
“please be human, and do consider us as humans as well.”
To which the customer service officer replied:
“Sir, I can understand your concern.
But as per SOP, you need to proceed with the order accordingly.”
Left with no other options, Chen had to re-dispatch the order, which caused the customer to wait really long for her food and he risked having his batch level affected, whicih will determing his shift bookings and etcetera.
