A 23-year-old male Indian foreign worker tested positive for Covid-19 despite being vaccinated on January and February.
He had received his first dose on 25 January and his second dose on 17 February.
He is a work permit holder who is working for Seafront Support Company Pte Ltd as a lashing specialist.
The FW was asymptomatic and his infection was detected during a Rostered Routine Testing (RRT).
MOH said that it is possible for a vaccinated person to still get infected with COvid-19 as the vaccine is effective in preventing symptomatic disease for the vast majority of those vaccinated, and that more research is required to see if it can also prevent onward transmission of the infection.
