Former Taiwan JKF model arrested again for drug use after MRT station altercation

A former JKF model known for her striking 34E figure has landed in trouble again after an incident at a Taipei MRT station. The woman, identified as Jia Tongtong, was found with illegal drugs following a dispute, leading to a urine test that revealed positive results for both etomidate and methamphetamine. The court has sentenced her to two months in prison with an option to convert the sentence to a fine of S$1,000 per day, and the case remains open for appeal.

Jia Tongtong had previously been in trouble for drug use and involvement in a romance scam that defrauded victims of around S$1.7 million. According to court documents, she was released from a drug rehabilitation observation programme in June 2022 but relapsed within three years. On 14 January 2025, she was caught using an e-cigarette containing etomidate-laced vape oil at her home before going out. Later that afternoon, she got into a confrontation at an MRT exit in Taipei City. Police arrived to investigate and found a vape cartridge containing etomidate on her.

Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of both etomidate and methamphetamine in her urine sample. The prosecution opted for a summary judgement based on the evidence.

During trial, the court noted Jia’s previous drug offences and treatment, pointing to her weak resolve to quit. The judge emphasised that her drug use and possession not only seriously harm her own health but also pose risks to public order. However, the court showed leniency considering her admission of guilt, cooperative attitude, educational background (vocational high school graduate), clean record aside from drug use, and current financial difficulties linked to her work in live streaming, photoshoots, and showgirl roles.

Her two-month custodial sentence can be substituted with daily fines of S$1,000. The vape cartridge was confiscated and destroyed according to law.

This was not Jia’s first brush with the law for drugs. In November 2021, police in New Taipei City found her as a missing person during a routine traffic stop. Officers discovered approximately 9 grams of drug-laced coffee packets in her pocket, resulting in an arrest and a bail set at S$7,000.

The case highlights ongoing challenges in tackling substance abuse and its social implications, especially for public figures who remain under scrutiny for their actions.
