FOUNDER OF MAMEE NOODLE SNACK DIES AT THE AGE OF 96, LEAVES BEHIND 4-GEN FAMILY

The founder of Singapore and Malaysia’s favourite Mamee Monster noodle snack, Datuk Pang Chin Hin, has passed away at the age of 96.

According to Sin Chew Daily, the Group Executive Chairman of Mamee Double Decker, died on 5 November at about 6.03am.

He leaves behind a family of 4 generations, including his three sons and three daughters that he had with his late wife, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Pang’s son, Pang Tee Chew, joined him in his company and became the CEO and director of the company, while his grandson Pierre Pang is now the group CEO of Mamee Double Decker.

Pang started his career from humble beginnings, and was a second hand car dealer before starting a small factory in Malacca in 1971, making instant noodles.

They launched their first product in 1972, but it wasn’t successful. In 1974, Pang then had the idea to sell instant noodles that were already cooked with flavouring after seeing farmers eating uncooked instant noodles from the packet.

And thus Mamee Monster was born.
