Philippine national Blones Josemari Rico, 37-years-old, pleaded guilty to one charge of consuming methamphetamine, and another charge for having the drug in his possession.
Rico, a former nurse, was sentenced yesterday (7 June) to 1 year of jail, with another charge of possessing an apparatus used for taking drugs being considered during sentencing.
What happened?
Rico was arrested in a residential unit by CNB for drug related offences on 9 October last year at around 5.55am, although court documents didn’t reflect how the officers were alerted.
A search was then conducted at the unit and a packet of crystalline substance, along with a smoking apparatus, were seized by officers.
Rico’s urine test after his arrest came back positive for methamphetamine, and he then admitted to smoking “Ice”, which is the urban nickname for the drug, at his home at about 1am on 9 October.
He admitted to owning and possessing the packet or crystalline substance, later found to be “Ice”.
He said that he bought the packet from a guy known as “Maplek” 2 weeks prior to his arrest. it was meant for his own consumption.
