The crowdfunding campaign for Ms Han Hongli, the 42-year-old woman who was seen in a video mercilessly slashed by her husband at Beach Road last month, has hit about $77,471.22 at the time of writing.
The funds raised is about 73% of the goal, with the charity platform Ray Of Hope, which started the online campaign, hoping to raise $105,343.86.
Ray of Hope’s campaign description
Ms Han Hongli, 42, was slashed repeatedly outside a restaurant in Beach Road on April 14. The alleged assailant, her estranged husband, was charged in court for attempted murder on April 16.
Ms Han was sent to the hospital with multiple slash wounds. The mother of two is from Henan, a province in central China. Her children, 20 and 17, are currently looked after by her family.
Ray of Hope caseworkers have spoken to Ms Han. Since her admission, she has undergone four surgeries for her head, eyes and hands. She was also advised that she would need two more eye surgeries to regain her eyesight. She shared that despite her injuries, she is worried about her two children back home.
Ray of Hope is working with Ms Han’s employer and a Non-Government Organisation (NGO) to support Ms Han during this difficult period. We are raising $105,343.86 to support Ms Han with the following:
- Medical fees: $67,931.70*
- Loss of income: $1,800 x 12 months
- Shelter fees: $300 x 6 months
- Full-time caregiver: $1,000 x 6 months
- Medical Caregiving (Nurse Respite Care / Escort): $8,012.16 (3 hours/day, 12 days/month x 6 months
*Medical fees are as at 5th May 2022. As the medical fees are likely to increase, the campaign target will be increased once the updated medical bills are received.
