FW SCOLD & WHACK BUS DRIVER WHO TOLD HIM TO WEAR MASK PROPERLY, JAILED

Nadarajan Mariesusy, 40-years-old, a Malaysian, pleaded guilty to 1 count each of harassment, assault and breaching the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act.

He was sentenced to 2 weeks imprisonment along with a fine of $4,000 (that will equal to 8 addition days in jail if he cannot pay).

Mariesusy reportedly used vulgarities on a bus driver and assaulted him after being asked to wear his mask properly.

What happened?

on 31 July last year at around 7.50pm, Mariesusy boarded bus 130 along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6.

He was seen with his mask covering only his chin as he was talking to his wife on the phone.

The bus driver, Mr Sulaiman, asked h8im to wear his mask properly, to which he did so and sat down at the back of the bus.

The driver later saw him with his mask down again.

When the driver later stopped at a bus stop, he turned to the back of the bus to tell the man to wear the mask properly again, highlighting that it was required under Singapore law.

Mariesusy then walked towards the driver as the bus was moving and used vulgarities on him, assaulting him before alighting.

The victim felt that he was no longer able to drive and contacted the SBS Ops office, and a colleague then alerted the police.
