
Previously, the govt has announced and discouraged social events that involve mass crowding of people. Despite the advice not only from the govt and medical experts around the world the event has started the tender for the stalls.
Preventive measures will be taken for the bazaar and there will be 500 stalls instead of 800.
Each stall will be at least 10 meters apart, in pass Geylang Bazaar events, the stalls were about 5 to 8 meters apart from each other. As being further apart means taking up more space per stall, there will 300 fewer stalls for the bazaar.
The vendors will have to conduct temperature taking of the workers and must have daily cleaning.
A briefing that was held said:
“With the global risk assessment of Covid-19 rising to a high level as announced by the World Health Organization (WH0), PA and WGS want to include preventive measures such as social distance and clean-up plans.
“The move will be implemented as a prerequisite for the Geylang Serai 2020 Bazaar, with emphasis on additional measures and playing a role in curbing Covid-19,” the PA document statement said.
The bazaar will be held from April 18 to May 24.
