My boyfriend is always trying to one-up me. We’ve been dating for almost a year now and while I thought things were going great, I’ve recently found out that he’s been renting cars for our dates.
It all started a few weeks ago when he took me out to dinner. He picked me up in a sleek black convertible with the top down and a huge smile on his face. I was impressed, but a little confused. I asked him how he got it and he told me he had rented it.
At first, I thought it was cute that he had gone the extra mile to make our date special. But then I started to realize that he was doing it for every date. He was renting cars for every single one.
I start to think that he is a loser
Here I was thinking that we were having a great relationship and he was out there spending money to impress me. It made me feel like I wasn’t good enough for him. I felt like he was trying to make me think he was better than me.
I tried to talk to him about it, but he just laughed it off and said he was just trying to make our dates special. But I couldn’t help but feel like he was really trying to show me that he was wealthier than me.
It’s been a few weeks since I found out about the car rentals and I’m still feeling a bit insecure. I feel like I’m not good enough for him. I don’t understand why he would do this.
It’s made me re-evaluate our relationship and I’m not sure if I want to stay with him if he’s going to keep trying to make me feel like less than him. I don’t want to be with someone who makes me feel like I’m not good enough.
Deep down I want a boyfriend with his own car not just a rented car.
I think the best thing for me to do is to talk to him about it and make sure he knows how I’m feeling. I need to make sure that he understands that I don’t feel good about him renting cars for our dates and that I feel like he’s trying to make me feel like a loser. I hope he can understand and that we can move past this.
