I recently found out that my friend got her work probation extended three times.
I was a little surprised since I thought that usually after the first extension, it meant that the employee was asked to leave the company.
Her father and the CEO are friends
But then I found out that the reason why she got an extension was because her father was friends with the CEO of the company.
My friend told me that she had been working with the company for almost two years and was placed on probation for not meeting her performance goals.
She was given an extension to prove that she could reach the goals but she couldn’t. Then, after the first extension, she was given another one and then another one. It just seemed to keep going on and on.
I asked her why she could keep getting an extension if it was obvious that she wasn’t meeting the goals.
She said that it was because her father was friends with the CEO and probably the manager knew which was why they didn’t dare to ask her to leave in case they offended the CEO.
She also said that her dad had been friends with the CEO for a long time, since childhood and they had a good relationship.
So when she failed her first probation, it was kinda no surprise that she didn’t get ask to leave
It is unfair to be honest, but really lan lan
At first, I was a bit taken aback by this because I thought it was unfair that her father was using his friendship with the CEO to get her a break.
But then I realized that this is often how the world works. People use their connections to get ahead and it’s not always fair.
I felt like it was unfair to the other employees who had to work hard to meet their goals and weren’t given the same opportunity.
Well I guess thats how the world works, and there is nothing much that we can do about it.
