I got declined for an interview because I am poor
I’m qualified for the job and she even said so after accepting my 2 week late application because the other candidates weren’t suitable.
However she asked me before the interview if I had family or friends to depend on during the probation period where I won’t be getting the full salary, but the allowance instead.
I asked if the wage listed was enough to live off of and she blatantly says no and hopes to raise it next year.
She’ll only hire people who have family/friends to lean on or are independently wealthy.
Honestly I appreciate her candor but it just sucks I have to live in this capitalistic dystopia where I’m not able to get a job that I love and am qualified for without having prior wealth or support.
I just needed to vent about this !
- Honestly it sounds like she was doing you a favour. Knowing you can’t live off the salary. It totally does suck that since the 70s, wages haven’t been increased anywhere near in line with housing costs, so housing is so expensive. Hope you find something soon
- One thing I’ve learned is a disappointment or something that seems unfair in the moment, could easily be a blessing in disguise.
Sometimes you gotta just step back and evaluate instead of getting sad and complaining. Think about it this way, “It happens so I can find a better opportunity in the near future.”
Always gotta keep a positive energy. Positivity breeds positivity. As stupid as that sounds, it works.
- hear me out… i think she is not trying to insult you or take the job away from you but simply trying to look out for you. thats my opinion
- That sucks, I’m sorry to hear that. Honestly, she should accept you as a worker & she doesn’t know whether you have other jobs & something to hold you over that you didnt mention.
That being said, she is probably being realistic because sadly, people are not often told just how HARD it is to live off of one income
