As a young girl growing up, I was taught to always be thankful for the things I had.
My parents instilled in me the value of hard work, and to never take things for granted. I told my boyfriend I wanted a LV bag as I have never experience any luxury before.
So when my boyfriend recently told me he would be burning a Louis Vuitton bag for my birthday, I was taken aback.
At first, I thought he was kidding. But then he went on to explain that he was serious. He said that he wanted to give me something special and he had thought about it for a long time. He said he wanted to burn a Louis Vuitton bag as a gift for my ancestors. He said that it would be a sign of respect and appreciation for all of their hard work and sacrifice.
I was in shock. I had never heard of anyone doing such a thing before. It seemed like a bizarre idea, and I was not sure how to react. After a few moments of contemplation, I told him that I appreciated the thought, but I would much prefer a real Louis Vuitton bag for my birthday.
I did not know what he meant until I told my friend about it, she said my boyfriend was being sarcastic and obviously he will not buy any LV bag for me.
But it turns out it was his way of surprising me.
So, on my birthday, he surprised me with a beautiful Louis Vuitton bag. I was so excited, and I thanked him for his thoughtfulness. Then, he took me to a nearby park and we had a small ceremony.
I was overwhelmed with emotion. I was also thankful for my boyfriend and the thoughtful gift he had given me.
Since then, I have been so grateful. I have come to realize that it is not always the material things that matter, but it is the thought behind them that really counts.
