GIRL WANTED TO MAKE MONEY SO MUM CAN STOP WORKING, END UP LOST $50K TO JOB SCAM

i got into a job scam last year and lost around $50,000 SGD. Yes, i graduated from NUS and made such a stupid mistake.

I have made a police report and till now, police is still investigating. I am still holding onto the hope that i may perhaps get some money back.

I can’t get away from the guilt and pain from the loss. Coming from a single parent family, my mom had worked her whole life bringing my brother and me up.

Now at her old age, my mom is still working and did not even have $20k in her savings, and yet, i squandered away $50k just like that.

The money lost could have improved my mom’s quality of life and perhaps, allow her to not work so hard now. The guilt has been eating me up daily.

How can i walk out from this?

1. You are still very young. Take the 50k as your school fees on how evil this society can be and learn a lesson from it. Find a job, a side hustle whatever and quickly earn back the 50k. It’s no use wallowing in guilt and self pity.
2. Hi I’m a victim of scam too lost over 200K. Fortunately for me I have my family members amd husband support. Try to seek financial help since ur mom is a single parent.
   Try to also appeal to the banks for a goodwill payout. Don’t put too much hope in getting back the money. Set a plan to save that 50K back.
   What got me going was my family and god. I hope you’ll find ease going through the hardship.
3. Don’t feel too bad. You are not the only one. I had an ex-student who lost $200K to a scam also. Fortunately that student works in MANGA so it was possible to make that money back but still painful.
   In case people think that the folks who fall for scams are stupid, it’s not so simple. Some of these scams are v sophisticated. Take care.
