GIRL’S BANK & CPF WIPED OUT BY BTO & RENO, SAYS BF EARNS MORE BUT NOT CONTRIBUTING MORE

My bf and I finally got the keys for our BTO and we’re both very excited to renovate our house.

We’ve also started to look around for suitable furniture and appliances and I didn’t realise how much money all these things cost.

Everything costs a lot, my money is all wiped out

Every single thing is money. Even the basic ones that are not so nice are not cheap. And when you total everything up, it’s really a lot of money.

When we were still waiting for our BTO to be built, I always envisioned my perfect home but because of the high prices, I had to sacrifice a lot of what I wanted.

Although I have a stable job, spending so much money makes me nervous because I’ve never felt so “broke” before.

My CPF account got wiped clean and my savings also took a big hit from all this expenditure. This makes me really uncomfortable as I guess I’m used to having a lot more money in my bank account.

This is the first time that my bank account has dropped below five figures and I sort of blame my bf for it.

Bf earns more than me but insist we contribute the same amount

For all our expenditure so far my bf and I have been splitting equally between two of us. I brought it up to him a few times that he should pay more because he earns way more than me and can afford it but he insisted on splitting 50/50 because we are sharing the house equally.

It sounds fair but in reality, it is not. I’m having a really hard time trying to scrimp and save to have enough to pay.

On the other hand, I see him still able to go out and have fun with his friends. As my future husband, shouldn’t he support me?

He says I shouldn’t have any expectations of him but if I’m the one earning more, I’ll also pay more of the bills so of course I expect him to do the same.

How do I convince him?
