A 27-year-old former Grab driver, Mohamed Razin Mohamed Omar, pleaded guilty to one charge of outrage of modesty and was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment on 20 January, as well as 3 strokes of the cane.
Another charge of kissing the victim on her lips was considered during his sentencing.
He had picked up a 16-year-old girl and asked her personal questions before driving her to a secluded area where he kissed and molested her.
What happened?
In the wee hours of 21 November 2020, Razin picked up the victim who was on her way home, sitting at the back of his car.
Razin asked her about her age, her secondary school, and her personal life while trying to strike a conversation with her.
The girl answered his questions and told him that she was 16, to which Razin asked for her number before asking her if she wanted to “go somewhere”.
The victim said “anything” as she didn’t know what he meant.
Razin then drove his car to a dimly lit, secluded area on Bulim Street and he then got out of the car, asking the girl to alight as well, to which she complied.
He then started asking the girl more questions, before re-entering the vehicle and sitting at the back with the girl.
He then asked her if she had kissed any men before, to which the girl said no.
Razin then suddenly kissed the girl multiple times on her lips at about 1.45 am, to which the shocked girl then said “I don’t want” and pushed Razin away.
Razin then grabbed her hand and placed it on his crotch, to which the girl then withdrew her hand, but Razin then grabbed her hand and forced her to perform an explicit act on him.
The victim managed to eventually pull her hand away from Razin and told him that she wanted to go home, and Razin then sent her home.
As the girl was paying the fare for the ride, Razin asked her for a goodbye kiss, which she refused and hurriedly returned home.
She then made a police report a few days later about the incident.
