A number of Grabfood customers were reportedly charged a small order fee of between $700 to $1,200 for their food delivery orders.
One netizen shared her order onto TikTok, showing that the small order fee for her $14.25 McDonald’s meal was $1,185.75.
She had ordered a Buttermilk Crispy Chicken burger and some McNuggets, and was shocked by the exorbitant small order fees.
She asked “they think I what? Elon Musk is it?” with a netizen commenting that she showed the video to her coworker, who said that it was the “risk fee for entering Yishun.”
Social media was rife with chatter about the astronomical small order fees, with many GrabFood customers sharing their experiences.
One user shared that he wanted to buy some pork ribs for $9.90, and his small order fees came up to $790.10; while another user shared that he bought some western food for $14.55 and was charged a small order fee of $785.45.
Another netizen tried to order food from McDonald’s and was charged a small order fee of $1,182.05.
Grab responds
Responding to the queries, Grab said that the issue has been resolved and advised customers to get in touch with them if they have any inquiries or feedback.
They also asked the customers to restart their devices and try again.
